The Philippine Army bombed and strafed Mindoro on January 1. They killed at least 5 civilians.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines, specifically the 203rd Infantry Brigade and the 2nd Infantry Division, viciously bombed and strafed civilians in Abra De Ilog, Mindoro. They killed a student researcher, Jerlyn Doydora, another civilian, and at least 3 Indigenous Mangyan-Iraya Youth.
Marcos' AFP has denied the entry of a fact-finding mission led by Karapatan Southern Tagalog. Jerlyn's body has not been returned to her family.
They dropped 12 bombs over 4 hours in populated area, a thorough violation of international humanitarian law. This attack endangered and displaced 203 families. Critical livestock were killed.
Under Marcos Jr. the Philippine countryside has effectively been under fascist de facto martial law. These aerial bombardments and strafing have resulted in countless deaths and displaced thousands across the country. This is happening with full backing and funding of the US, which just murdered tens of civilians in Venezuela to forcibly take control of Venezuela's most coveted natural resource, oil.
We, along with peoples organizations and the families of those affected, demand that the fact-finding mission be allowed entry into Abra De Ilog, Cabacao.
Establish a humanitarian corridor and allow for the retrieval of the bodies so they may be returned to their loved ones.
Labanan ang pasismo! Stop the bombings!
