Shut Pax Silica Down! Stop the plunder and sell out of our lands!
In the face of such widespread disapproval for the Pax Silica Initiative, the Marcos administration is scrambling to gain public support for this destructive deal.
They're trying to save their public image so that they can sign the Pax deal by November, when Trump is supposedly attending the ASEAN summit in the Philippines.
Among the loudest supporters of the deal is the sellout and traitor Ambassador Babe Romualdez who told the people to just "look at the positive side first instead of the negative" as if the farmers and indigenous people who've been displaced or have been threatened with removal from their lands haven't already felt the negative impacts.
To these corrupt government officials, the positives outweigh the negatives because they stand to benefit and profit from the shady deals. The Philippine government relies on foreign intervention on all fronts, from economic to military to the detriment of everyday people because these massive destructive deals bring in short term profit for the ruling few while bringing long term suffering for the rest of the country.
This initiative exposes the all sided attacks on human rights, democracy, and sovereignty in the Philippines. Amidst protests, as we've seen under this regime, comes fascist repression. Corruption is a threat to democracy and the government providing free land to foreign corporations and countries like the US is a total affront to our sovereignty.
We call on FIlipinos in the diaspora to learn more about the Pax Silica Initiative and stand alongside the thousands of our kababayan who've already spoken out against it. Join the movement against plunder and corruption: malayamovement.com/join
