Defend Mindoro! Put an end to BBM’s de facto Martial Law!
BBM’s 3 year presidency so far has been marked by war crimes, human rights violations, and an ever-declining economy that has resulted in more poverty, unemployment, landlessness and overall instability. His attempts to bring about peace in the country is a lie, much like his other promises, and has only brought about more destruction, violence, and hardship.
In a flailing attempt to assert strength and power, BBM ordered his lackeys in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), and Philippine National Police (PNP) to repress the people under his so-called peace program. This National Action Plan for Unity and Peace and Development (NAP-UPD), is nothing more than a rebranded counterinsurgency (COIN) program that directs BBM’s fascist attack dogs to commit more human rights abuses and war crimes.
Recently, Mindoro has become a hotbed of these fascist attacks. What is abundant in Mindoro? Agricultural and mineral resources for extraction, particularly nickel, oil, and gas among other precious metals. BBM, like others before him, have used anti-people COIN programs to hide the true intent of the attacks against indigenous people, land defenders, and forcible displacement of people: the complete and total sell out of the country. This suppression and all out attack on people’s resistance pave the way for foreign mining and other corporations to come in and plunder the resources of the island, causing even more destruction and displacement.
Last year, the AFP killed a Mangyan youth, Jay-El Maligday, inside his home, accusing him of being a member of the New People’s Army. On August 1, 2025, farmer Juan Sumilhig suffered the same fate from the 4th Infantry Battalion. Advocates have been calling for justice for these extrajudicial killings but have been met with more fascist repression. A recent protest against the Sumilhig’s murder was violently attacked by the AFP’s 203rd Infantry Brigade and PNP Roxas. We condemn these killings and join Maligay and Sumilhig’s loved ones in calling for justice!
Malaya Movement USA demands an immediate end to the attacks on Mindoro! End BBM’s de facto martial law policy in Mindoro and all across the country, especially in the countryside. We stand with the people of Mindoro - Defend Mindoro!
