Disqualify the Duterte Youth Partylist! Proclaim the Gabriela Women’s Partylist Now!

Malaya Movement USA welcomes COMELEC’s decision to cancel the registration of the sham Duterte Youth party-list. It is many years too late but COMELEC disqualifying the partylist is a step in the right direction. The partylist has very little to show in terms of legislation, authored or passed, contrast that with the Gabriela Women’s Partylist which can gain a seat if this disqualification goes through. We urge COMELEC to proclaim the Gabriela Women’s Partylist immediately for the sake of genuine representation of the people in Congress.

Who is Ronald Cardema?

Ronald Cardema, the founder of the Hitler Youth-inspired partylist, is a staunch supporter of the fascist Duterte family, as well as the chairperson of the now-defunct Kabataan for Bongbong Movement. Cardema is seemingly trying to start a political dynasty of his own, with his wife, Ducielle Marie Suárez Cardema, who took his post after he was disqualified in 2020 for being too old to be representative of the youth. Now his sister in law, Drixie Mae Cardema, is the current representative.
