Tell the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) & the Philippine Ambassador to the United States: Remove human rights defender Julie Jamora from the BI blacklist!

The petition to Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viad of the Philippine Bureau of Immigration and Philippine Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez, and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reads:

“Stop suppressing and censoring human rights advocates, including ending the Republic of the Philippines’ status quo policy of blacklisting foreign-based human rights defenders. Remove long-time Philippine human rights advocate Julie Jamora from the BI blacklist.”

On the 127th anniversary of Philippine independence from Spain, Malaya Movement USA calls on the Filipino people to continue the historic legacy of resistance and fight for the full realization of genuine independence and sovereignty in the Philippines. We must fight against Marcos Jr.’s selling out of our land, waters, economy, and labor to foreign powers and free our motherland!

The picture Marcos Jr. painted in his SONA is a pretty one, if it were accurate. We are not surprised that Marcos Jr. 's proclamations put his regime in a positive light, while largely ignoring the genuine plight of the majority of the Philippines.

Ahead of President Marcos’ State of the Nation Address, members of the Malaya Movement USA want to put attention on the concerns of the millions of Filipinos in the United States about the daily realities of our kababayan under his and Vice President Sara Duterte’s administration, as the past two years have taught us that the suffering of the majority is not given justice in his address.
