FAQs: Negros 19 massacre

Philippine president Marcos is running for United Nation Security Council. The vote is June 3rd.

Last month, the Armed Forces of the Philippines killed its own people and lied about it.

Here’s why their Commander-in-Chief is not fit to maintain international peace and security.

What is black propaganda?

Propaganda is a type of messaging typically trying to influence a public audience toward an agenda.

Black propaganda is intentional disinformation designed to discredit or defame a target and create confusion amongst the public.

Covert disinformation is not new, but accessibility of viewing and creating content-- along with education cuts and censorship-- has made spreading it easier.

The same manufactured effort is being used to dehumanize activists and community advocates that the US-backed Philippine military killed.

Combat black prop: claim #1

“Toboso was a legitimate military encounter.”

On April 19th, over six hundred Toboso residents were forced to evacuate by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Nineteen people were killed including nine civilians.

Forensic pathologist Raquel Fortun, who conducted autopsies on five bodies, raised questions on the lack and mishandling of crime scene investigation and evidence.

This includes one body having been shot in the back, and at least two more who died from bleeding out and asphyxiation

Combat black prop: claim #2

“Those in Toboso were armed rebels.”

Images shared by The TRUTH and Reallife Story showing victim RJ Ledesma with the flags of armed groups are fake.

Toboso residents assert that Alyssa Alano, Ledesma, Lyle Prijoles, Maureen Santuyo, Errol Wendel and Kai Sorem were unarmed civilians.

Ledesma was a journalist; Prijoles and Sorem, human rights advocates; Santuyo, a peasant organizer; Wendel, a researcher. All came to Toboso to listen to the farming communities.

Combat black prop: claim #3

“The operation regarded civilian safety/humanitarian law.”

State actors inflicting violence on civilians is a violation of international humanitarian law including the Geneva Conventions.

Toboso residents have testified to military encampment of their homes, harassment and intimidation, and indiscriminate firing.
