Extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests and harassment of activists, inhumane and unjust detentions. Marcos and Trump have escalated their fascist attacks, not just for the sake of enacting violence against the people but to ultimately serve their economic, military, and political interests.
Migrant workers who toil in precarious industries in the U.S., separated from their families and forced to live in inhumane conditions in detention centers.
Political prisoners who are languishing in jail for their beliefs, like Dr. Ana Marie Rilloraza-Leung and artist Ceeka Garzon. Filipino American activist, Christina Pasion, remains in arbitrary detention in the Philippines since July 30, 2026. And Yaa'kub Vijandre held by ICE for over a year.
Activists, human rights defenders, who are murdered by state forces like Alex Pretti, Renée Good in the U.S. and the 19 massacred in Toboso, Negros, including Filipino-Americans Lyle Prijoles and Kai Sorem.
Red-tagging, state harassment are ramping up in the Philippines, especially in the countryside and is happening overseas: the NTF-ELCAC have expanded their operations to try and convince Filipinos in the U.S. that our organizations are terrorists. The FBI have been harassing family members of Christina Pasion and other community members. They've blacklisted US-based activists from entering the country, like Malaya USA's Secretary General, Julie Jamora.
These acts of political repression aim to silence movements - sow terror with the expectation that people will cower in fear. Let us be clear though - these attacks are not new. This comes in a long line of US backed counterinsurgency tactics that aims to crush all forms of resistance. But our legacy tells us that fascism only breeds more resistance: like the activists that grew from just a few to millions to overthrow the Marcos Sr. regime in 1986 to Malaya's founding in 2018 in response to Duterte's drug war that resulted in 30,000+ killed. Now, under Marcos Jr.'s US-backed counterinsurgency program, the National Action Plan for Unity, Peace, and Development (NAP-UPD), we must band together to fight back!
This is why we are launching the Defend People's Right to Resist campaign alongside our partners in BAYAN USA, ICHRP US, and ILPS US. Join us as we demand an end to state repression! Be part of the movement against fascism and sign-on to the campaign TODAY: tinyurl.com/DefendSignOn
