We condemn the unjust abduction and detention of Filipino-American activist Christina Pasion and demand her immediate release at the hands of the war criminals of the Philippine military.

Just days after Marcos' 5th State of the Nation Address, where he once again lied about the real state of the country, he unleashed his fascist military force against communities in Laguna and abducted activists Christina Pasion and Binay Serrano while they were seeking medical support.

Christina and Binay were immersing among the peasant and indigenous communities in the region.

Binay’s whereabouts are unknown, though local police admitted she was in their custody. This is deeply concerning given the uptick in disappearances under Marcos' administration.

In a coordinated smear campaign, the Armed Forces of the Philippines' 68th Infantry Battalion, 203rd Infantry Brigade (IBde) and the Philippine National Police and their various troll pages have declared Christina and Binay as members of the New People’s Army.

The practice of terror-tagging has been widely condemned by the international community, especially in light of the deadly military operations in Toboso, Negros earlier this year where the AFP killed 19, including 9 civilians.

Marcos Jr continues the culture of impunity laid down by criminal predecessor Rodrigo Duterte, where all forms of activism are subject to intense repression and even death.

In their campaigning for a seat on the UN Security Council (UNSC) and participation in UN Counter-terrorism Week, the administration is seeking support to fund their fascist counterinsurgency operations that will result in more war crimes and human rights violations.

There is widespread opposition to this, with Marcos Jr losing his bid at the UNSC just a few months ago, but we need to continue to expose and oppose Marcos at every turn because the fascist violence will not cease under his regime.

The AFP has used psychological torture tactics like they did with youth activists Jonila Castro and Jhed Tamano. This is a likely scenario for Christina who the military and the NTF-ELCAC has targeted for her activism for months now. While we are grateful that Christina is alive, especially after the brutal massacre conducted by the AFP in Negros, we are concerned about her safety and well-being and demand her immediate release.

We celebrate Christina's commitment to serving the most oppressed and exploited when the act itself has been criminalized by the state. We vehemently condemn the recent spate in targeted attacks against Filipino-Americans by the Marcos administration. Stop criminalizing our collective desire to return home and serve our kababayan.
